The BJ Sessions - Volume 2 by Bo and Jizosh (Tribal House)

Let me say that I was a little reluctant to remove that DJ Icey CD from my CD player to replace it with some 4 on the floor beats as I am a true breakbeat aficionado. But after listening to The BJ Sessions - Volume 2 all the way through I was curiously thinking "Don't Stop...Don't Stop." So I listened to it again.

I love a good baseline as much as the next person and I gotta say that this album definitely has plenty of bass. The beats are as chunky as a Chips Ahoy cookie and there are more drum samples on this album than there are Jelly Belly flavors. Tribal house is something I haven't heard much of since DJ Dan's early stuff and it is refreshing to hear something out of the norm. With those primal sounding congo and bongo beats melded with the tech-house baselines these tracks are like music from a dance club in the African Rainforest. The record selections on this CD are so full and rich they are like your hair after using Pert Plus. And all blended together perfectly by Bo and Jizosh's skilled mixing.

After listening to The BJ Sessions a couple of times in a row now I am thinking if I heard this at a club everyone would be doing the Lambada and yelling "Do you feel the love!" I definitely wanted to get up and move, but I can also chill to this music. You could play this album at a drum circle with a bunch of hippies and still feel the love. Everyone should check this album out from clubheads to ravers to hippies because Love is what its all about!

So I suspect that we will be hearing a lot more of these kids...keep up the good work.
